Sarah Bates is Chairman of Polar Capital Technology Trust plc, John Lewis Partnership Pensions Trust Ltd and the Diversity Project Charity. She is Non-Executive Director of the Worldwide Healthcare Trust and a member of the Investment Committees of Universities Superannuation Scheme Ltd and the BBC Pension Fund.
Sarah has over 35 years of experience in the investment and investment-management sectors. She started life as an analyst with Simon & Coates and worked her way up through Invesco Ltd to become Joint Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive of the institutional business in the UK.
Sarah is Chair of Merian Global Investors and was Chair of St James’s Place plc. She was also Chair of the Association of Investment Companies and of JP Morgan American Investment Trust plc and Witan Pacific plc, and Audit Committee Chair of UandI plc.
She was also Chair of the Audit Committee of New India Investment Trust, among other investment-company Board roles.
In the property world, Sarah was appointed a Non-Executive Director of U and I Group plc, and Chair of its Audit Committee (and later SID), and Chair of a small Russian property company.
She was one of the co-founders of the Diversity Project, and set up the Diversity Project Charity, of which she is Chair. She was Chair of the Kings Corner Project (a small youth charity).
