Current Positions
Hubert Joly is a member of the Board of Directors of Johnson & Johnson as well as Ralph Lauren Corp. In addition, he is a senior lecturer at Harvard Business School, a Vice Chairman of The Business Council, a member of the International Advisory Board of HEC Paris and a Trustee of the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Hubert is also the author of “The Heart of Business: Leadership Principles for the Next Era of Capitalism” (2021).
Industry Knowledge
Hubert led Best Buy Co. from 2012 to 2020, as President and CEO, Chairman and CEO and, finally, Executive Chairman. Under Hubert’s leadership, customer satisfaction and employee engagement increased dramatically, the company’s carbon footprint went down by more than 50%, and Best Buy’s share price went from a low of $11 to around $90.
Prior to Best Buy, Hubert was the President and CEO of Carlson Companies from 2008 to 2012, a global leader in the hospitality and travel industry, employing more than 175,000 people in more than 160 countries and territories. From 2004 to 2008, he was the CEO of Carlson Wagonlit Travel, and prior to that he was a Senior Executive at Vivendi (a French media conglomerate), the President of EDS France and a Partner at McKinsey & Co.
