Gérard Mestrallet is Honorary Chairman of ENGIE, Honorary Chairman of SUEZ, Executive Chairman of AFALULA, Non-Executive Director on the Board of Societe Generale SA, Board member of the Executive Committee of the Saudi Electricity Company and Co-Chair of the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition.
Gérard Mestrallet hs held various positions at the Treasury Department and as a staff member for the Minister of Economy and Finance (J. Delors).
Gérard joined Compagnie Financiere de SUEZ in 1984. In 1991 he was named Chairman of the Management Committee of Societe Generale de Belgique. In 1995, he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Compagnie de SUEZ. Gérard was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GDF SUEZ (now ENGIE) when SUEZ merged with Gaz de France on July 2008.
Gérard is Chairman of "Fondation Agir Cantre! 'Exclusion" (FACE). Moreover, Gérard is member of the Board of Societe Generale, of Saudi Electric Company (Saudi Arabia), of the Shanghai and Beijing Mayors' International Economic Advisory Council and he is the Chairman of the Chongqing Mayor's International Economic Advisory Council and of Moscow. He is also member of the International Council of JP Morgan Chase.
Gérard has been recently appointed by the French President of France as Executive Chairman of the French Agency for Al Ula (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) cultural, heritage and tourism development in cooperation with the Kingdom.
