Thomas Thune Andersen

Thomas Thune Andersen Joined A.P. Moller-Maersk in 1977 and developed an international career with a wide ranging global experience. He has held numerous senior positions throughout the Group including President and CEO of Maersk Inc., based in New Jersey USA, Managing Director for Maersk Company Ltd, based in UK and latterly as Partner and Member of the Executive Board, and Chief Executive Officer, Maersk Oil.

During his more than 30 years tenure with APM-Maersk he has worked globally with business sectors like Container-Shipping, Logistics, Port Operation and Development; Shipowning and Operation, Oil field Services incl. Drilling Rigs and traditional upstream E&P.

His experience both through his role as Chairman, board member, consultant and not least though his long and wide spread career in the A.P Moeller-Maersk Group has granted him an extensive global insight, experience from different societal and business cultures as well an extensive international network.

Mr Andersen brings in-depth strategic and operational knowledge and understanding of the industries and demonstrates a proven track-record of successful growth strategies, turnarounds, M&As and new market development.

Board Mandates

Mr Andersen today holds an international Board portfolio in PLC’s as well as privately owned companies mainly within the renewable energy, oil and marine sector and related critical infrastructure. His present portfolio covers a range of different ownership structures and governance models:

Mr Andersen has been chairing Lloyd’s Register Group, UK, since 2010 and was head of the process when Lloyd’s Register Foundation one of the largest UK charities with focus on scientific and technical research as well as support to scientific education was established in 2013. Mr Andersen today also chairs the Foundation.

He is also chairing DONG Energy A/S. Denmark, (2014-). DONG Energy was successfully listed on Copenhagen Stock Exchange in June 2016 and was at the time the largest global IPO that year.

In 2010 Mr Andersen also joined VKR Holding A/S, Denmark, as Vice Chairman and Petrofac Plc (UK) as Non-Executive Director; in 2014 he was appointed Senior Independent Director of Petrofac.

In 2016 Mr Andersen also joined BW Offshore Limited as Non-Executive Director.

Mr Andersen was previously Non-Executive Director of SSE PLC, Scotland (2009-2014) and Chairman of DeepOcean Group Holding, the Netherlands (2011-2016).
